More Snowfall Predicted for the Drakensberg

SAWS has also forecasted light snowfall over the Drakensberg mountain range for the upcoming weekend. Forecasters indicate that a notable weather shift will occur across South Africa, with cooler temperatures expected across the escarpment regions. These cold conditions are anticipated to affect areas from the Western Cape to southern KwaZulu-Natal.

The cooling trend is set to Start in the Western Cape on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with a significant drop in daytime temperatures. By Monday, September 30, 2024, these cold conditions will spread to the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

The recent substantial snowfall has caused major disruptions, especially on the N3 toll route and other nearby roads.
