Jaywick Community Forum Receives £17,600 Grant for Local Improvements

The Jaywick Community Forum has been awarded £17,600 from the Rural England Prosperity Fund, a significant contribution that will enhance community spaces and support local activities. The forum has carefully planned how to allocate these funds, focusing on new gardening equipment, a public address (PA) system, and a gazebo to benefit the entire community.

Jaywick Community Forum Receives £17,600

A substantial portion of the grant—£7,000—was spent on purchasing much-needed gardening tools, including strimmers, leaf blowers, and lawnmowers. These tools, collected today, will be used to improve and maintain open spaces in Jaywick and throughout the Tendring district. This investment is expected to support community efforts to beautify public areas, fostering a cleaner and more pleasant environment for everyone.

Jaywick Councillor Bradley Thompson emphasized the wider reach of this initiative, stating, “The gardening equipment is intended to improve open spaces across all of Tendring, not just Jaywick.” He further encouraged community groups, volunteers, and residents to get involved in the upkeep of their local areas. “This can’t be done without volunteers—we need people to step up and help,” Thompson added, expressing gratitude to Clacton Tool Hire for their continued support, which has been instrumental in acquiring the equipment.

New Gazebo for Upcoming Events

In addition to the gardening tools, the forum has allocated £2,000 to purchase a new pavilion. While specific details are still to be announced, the gazebo will be a valuable asset for future community events, providing a sheltered space for gatherings, outdoor markets, and other activities.

Enhanced PA System for Local Performances

Another major investment from the grant is an £8,000 PA system, complete with speakers, amplifiers, and microphones. This new system will be used for events such as open mic nights, gigs, and other performances in Jaywick and the broader Tendring area. The PA system is expected to create more opportunities for local artists to showcase their talents and engage the community through music and performances.

Councillor Thompson highlighted the potential impact of the new equipment: “We want to get local artists more involved in the scene, as well as encourage children and people to participate in music.” He explained that the PA system’s ease of access—musicians can simply plug in their instruments without needing to bring additional gear—will make performing more accessible and convenient.

A Positive Step Forward for Jaywick and Tendring

The Jaywick Community Forum’s investments in gardening equipment, a new pavilion, and a PA system reflect its ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces and fostering cultural engagement. These improvements are expected to bring environmental and social benefits as the forum continues supporting initiatives that improve residents’ quality of life across Tendring.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Jaywick Community Forum to continue helping open spaces and residents across the area,” said Thompson, emphasizing the forum’s dedication to making the district a better place for everyone.
