The Economics Department was established in 1949 offering B.A General and expanded to include B.A/B.Sc (Honours) programs in 2004. The department aims to provide theoretical and applied knowledge, focusing on regional socio-economic challenges for inclusive development. Its mission is to equip students with applied economics skills for employability. The department plans national seminars on current economic issues, encourages research on regional problems, and maintains alumni connections. Overall, it aims to foster critical thinking and address real-world economic challenges.
